Benefits of the Lester B. Pearson Scholarship

1. The Lester B. Pearson International Scholarships will pay for tuition, books, and other small costs for four years, as well as cover the full cost of housing.

2. The scholarship is exclusively valid for first-entry undergraduate programs at the University of Toronto. There will be about 37 Lester B. Pearson Scholars per year.

Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship

If you meet the following requirements, you may apply for the Pearson International Scholarship:

1. An international student, that is, a non-Canadian who needs a study permit;

2. A student who is in their last year of secondary school or who will graduate no earlier than June 2022;

3. Starting in September 2023 to study at the University of Toronto (students who are already in college can’t be considered, nor can students who start college at another school in January 2023).

Necessary Documents for the Application

1. The deadline for school nominations is November 30, 2022.

2. December 14, 2022, is the deadline for student OUAC applications. (Please note that this is the last day to apply through the OUAC; it is advised that you apply for admission through the OUAC before November 7, 2022, as popular programs may close early and spots in them fill up rapidly.)

3. January 16, 2023 is the deadline for scholarship applications for students.

Application Procedure

You need to apply to the University of Toronto for undergraduate study and receive a nomination from your institution in order to be considered for the Pearson Scholars program. Concerning nominations, inquire with your school’s guidance counselor.

Once you’ve been nominated and applied to the University of Toronto, you’ll receive a personalized, secure link to the Lester B. Pearson International Scholarship application.

Students who have excelled in their academics and creative endeavors, who are recognized as leaders in their schools, and who have the potential to make a positive impact on society at large are considered to be Pearson Scholars.

They stand out from other students who may have done as well in school because of their wide range of interests, intellectual passion, and impact on their school and community.

By way of summary and in order to apply, you must:

1. Get a nomination from your college or university. High schools that haven’t been contacted or checked out yet are welcome to fill out an application here to be a part of our program.

2. Submit your application for admission to the University of Toronto (external link) by the required dates if you want to start your studies there in 2023. (external link). Please be aware that you will be given the Pearson Scholarship consideration for your first choice of U of T program. The Pearson Scholarship, if granted to you, would be limited to your first choice of program at U of T at the time our scholarship decisions are announced. You may apply to many programs and be admitted to them all.

3. You can apply for the Lester B. Pearson Scholarship online after we’ve received your nomination and you’ve applied to the university.
