Knowing About the World Bank

The World Bank Group, which consists of five institutions, is a singular global partnership with 189 member nations, employees from more than 170 nations, and offices spread across more than 130 locations.

The World Bank Group works to find long-term solutions that end poverty and promote shared prosperity in developing nations. The World Bank, which offers funding, policy recommendations, and technical help to governments of poor nations, is made up of IBRD and IDA.

The world’s poorest nations are the focus of IDA, while middle-income and creditworthy poorer nations are helped by IBRD. Even though each of our five organizations has its own national membership, governing boards, and articles of agreement, we operate as a single entity to benefit our partner nations.

The private sector must be involved in the solution if the development issues of today are to be overcome. However, the public sector establishes the framework for encouraging and fostering private investment growth.

The World Bank Group has a special capacity to link global financial resources, knowledge, and creative solutions to the needs of developing nations because of the complementary responsibilities played by our institutions.
