The Knight-Hennessy Scholars programme at Stanford University cultivates a diverse, multidisciplinary community of young leaders from around the world and trains them to collaborate, invent, and communicate as they prepare to address society’s challenging challenges. Scholars will enhance their knowledge, develop skills, and strengthen their character as they participate in community activities, workshops, meetings with leaders, domestic and global study excursions, and personal development opportunities through the King Global Leadership Programme.

The Knight-Hennessy Scholars are drawn from all seven schools at Stanford. Knight-Hennessy Scholars are gifted individuals who are part of an interdisciplinary community of scholars. The programme provides a platform for purposeful leadership development and equips you to make a large-scale beneficial impact in the world.

Eligibility for Knight-Hennessy Scholars at Stanford University:

There are two basic eligibility criteria.

To begin, in addition to applying to Knight-Hennessy Scholars (KHS), you must apply to, be accepted by, and register in a full-time Stanford graduate degree programme, such as the DMA, JD, MA, MBA, MD, MFA, MPP, MS, or PhD. You must fulfil at least one of the following four requirements:

  • You are applying to KHS and a full-time Stanford graduate degree programme separately but concurrently, so that you can begin both in the same year.
  • You have already been accepted and postponed admission to a full-time Stanford graduate degree programme, and you plan to apply to KHS in the same year.
  • You are a current Stanford PhD student in your first year of enrollment, and you plan to apply to KHS in your second year of PhD enrollment.

Second, you must have received a U.S. bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a recognised college or university in January 2017 or later. To apply to join the cohort in 2024, you must have completed a bachelor’s degree by January 2017 or later.

How to Apply for the scholarship

To be considered for the award, you must apply separately and concurrently to the Knight-Hennessy Scholars programme and your Stanford graduate degree programme. The deadline for the Knight Hennesy Programme is October 11, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Pacific Time. The date for applying to your Stanford graduate degree programme varies by programme.You must visit the website of your selected programme to confirm the application deadline, which is generally sooner.
